These Apple Pie Turnovers are a fantastic, quick, easy and delicious alternative to apple pie. They are absolutely delicious right out of the oven.
Ingredients
1 box puff pastry (thawed)
3 medium green apples
¼ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp flour
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
⅛ tsp cloves
For the Glaze
¾ cup powdered sugar
2 Tbsp milk
dash of vanilla
Instructions
Peel apples and throw them into a food processor. Pulse until the apples are in small pieces... but not too small!
In a bowl, mix together apples, sugar, flour, lemon juice and spices.
Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut into 9 squares.
On each square, place a heaping tablespoon of apple pie mixture.
Wet the edges of the puff pastry with water and fold over. Using a fork, press edges together so that they seal.
Bake at 375 for about 12-15 minutes. Or until fully puffed and golden brown on top.
While baking, whisk together the glaze by combining all the ingredients in a bowl. Add more liquid if you would like it runnier and more powdered sugar if you want to thicken it up.
After the turnovers have cooled for about 5-10 minutes, drizzle the glaze over the top.
Eat up, immediately! And enjoy!
