ABC SERIES: G is for GRANDMA & GRANDPA

November 5, 2014 by Carisa

Learning about the letter G and making something special for Grandma & Grandpa from Messes to MemoriesUm hi! So for those of you who follow along with the ABC Series. I have a serious apology to make… You probably thought that we just stopped doing these fun little lessons. And, if you thought that, you were right… for a while!

I think you may have heard that I’m pregnant. Announcement time… we are having another baby boy!! In April! I need some boy name inspiration, so if you have any, please share!

Morning sickness hit hard in August and so G is for Grandma and Grandpa took like a whole month for us to finish up. We did a couple H activities during that month too. But then I was just too sick to plan, prepare or do much of anything…

However, we have been going strong for about a month and a half and are now on the letter M. So I am just behind with my posts. They are coming!

You know, when you live so far away from grandparents, it can be hard for little kids to remember and develop a strong relationship with the grandparents.

Making a fun card for Grandma and Grandpa with String Art--part of the ABC Series from Messes to Memories

So it was actually good that we spent so much time on this one. Scott made an adorable powerpoint all about Lanae’s grandparents. It had so many pictures of fun activities that she’s done with them on our visits. It also included some pictures of the Greats! We don’t want to forget them either.

I wanted Lanae to make something fun for her Grandparents, so we decided that we would make this really cool art project… painting with string! The paint project turned into the cover of the letter that she sent (Owen helped, too)!

Let me just say that not all kids are created equal when it comes to crafting… Owen is much harder to craft with than Lanae. Ha ha!

After the paint dried and we made the actual card, Lanae got to decide what she wanted to write to Grandma and Grandpa and Oma and Opa.

And of course, she decorated the inside a little bit.

She also put the stamps on….

and put the cards in the mailbox herself!

It was definitely a fun project that she enjoyed doing. She loved hearing from Grandma after she got the card in the mail!
