I must admit that meal planning took a bit of slide for me last year. I honestly had the best of intentions and was even going to do a monthly calendar and share, but pregnancy and having a baby kind of messed that plan up!
This year I am determined to get back on top of meal planning. I’m serious!!
I’ve been working pretty hard on designing the perfect planner that will help me keep track of every aspect of my life and one part of it is my meal planning insert. I have absolutely loved having it, so I thought that I would share with you.
First off, I love how I have a place to brainstorm different meal ideas and have all of my ideas in one place before throwing it onto a calendar.
I really only plan out dinners for the month. Breakfasts are more of a weekly basis… most days we have cereal or oatmeal, but I’ll throw in a special day here and there. So I don’t brainstorm a whole lot of breakfast ideas.
Lunch is mostly leftovers and quesadillas or sandwiches. But I’ll add a few new ideas to try out every once in a while.
Once I have all the ideas rounded up, I can take a look at the calendar side and see what events I have that I need to plan around. Then I write down a dinner idea for each day of the month. If we’re going to be out and about all day, I’ll plan a crockpot meal or make sure that we have leftovers in the fridge that we can easily pull out and warm up.
So far, this system has really worked for me and I’m super excited to keep up with my meal planning this year. I definitely plan on trying some awesome new meals!
